Chase Ammons and Kaya Huebner are small-school athletes who make big-time plays.

Ammons scored in double figures in three games last week for The New School, which is 27-1 overall and 9-0 in 1A-1 Conference play. Ammons scored 22 points and made the go-ahead free throw with five seconds remaining to lift the New School to a 51-50 victory at Kingston. The next night, Ammons had 27 points, 10 assists and 7 steals in a 73-43 victory over Alpena.

The senior guard began the week by scoring 13 points in one quarter of play during a blowout win over Mount Judea. For his effort, Ammons is the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette boys Player of the Week.

"Chase is in the middle of everything we do," said The New School coach David Ferrell. "He's not afraid of the big moments. The better the team, the better he plays."
